Why Bishop Basil Meeking?
Bishop Basil Meeking (1929-2020) was the 7th Bishop of the Diocese of Christchurch and a long-time supporter of Hearts Aflame. When he returned to God in 2020, he left a donation to the school to help assure its future. The Planning Team decided it would be fitting to use a portion of this money to fund two scholarship places at Hearts Aflame each year to continue Bishop Basil’s legacy to Hearts Aflame, and his contribution to the spiritual formation of young Catholics in New Zealand.
Applications for the Bishop Basil Meeking Scholarships are open now for Hearts Aflame 2025.
